My friends,
How very often I think to write a blog post, and before I realize it, the day has come and gone. Last I wrote, I had gone through a time of feeling lonely and unsure of the future. However, since that feeling has left, I am learning to enjoy the life I have here in Florida. I am beginning to grow roots here and because of this, it is difficult to imagine leaving. - It amazes me how fast the human heart can change in feeling towards a certain thing - Since my previous post, doors have been opened for me to attend church lead college groups and small groups outside of Disney. The details of how this has happened are a bit confusing to write on a blog, but never the less I am very glad to know there are opportunities for me to fellowship. An interesting bit of information is that there is a "Cru" (campus crusade) ministry that has the goal to reach out to the Disney College, International, and internship students here in Orlando Florida. I met one of the girls who leads it while working one day. Here is the official website, http://www.cruatwdw.com/#/welcome. God has really blessed me with a number of ways in which I can fellowship with fellow believers!
When I first began working for Disney I was not keen that my name tag said I was from a college I will not be returning to. However, since my name tag says "Baptist Bible College" it has opened the door to many great conversations with guests. I have so many different types of stories that I could tell regarding this. One story in particular that I will forever remember happened a few weeks ago. It was pouring rain outside, so the store was crazy busy, when an older lady came to my register. As our conversation evolved, I learned that not only was she a Christian woman, but her son did the college program a few years back, so she had an understanding of the challenges. When this lady left, she asked if it would be alright if she kept me in her prayers, to which I answered "yes" (: When I receive these little reminders that God is there and that I He loves me, it is all I can do not to get a little emotional.
The classes that I will be taking while here, begin tomorrow. I will be learning about Guest Services on Tuesday's and Marketing on Thursday's. To say the least, I am very excited to be in a classroom setting once again. As odd as it may sound, I miss the days of constantly having my brain stimulated with school work. - Who would have ever thought I would say that - Oh, I cannot forget to tell you all that last week Animal Kingdom had a visit from Robert Downy Jr, Iron Man, himself! Unfortunately this happened on a day I was off, but later I heard he actually shopped in the store I work at and one of my co-workers was able to speak to him. I couldn't believe it! The day that all this happened, I was at Epcot enjoying the Food and Wine Festival. For any of you who would like to eventually visit Walt Disney World, I highly recommend coming when the Festival is happening. This year, there are over 30 different countries recognized, where you can get food or wine/alcohol or both. I have been to 12 out of the 30 so far, and I cannot wait to try the rest of the food!
The following pictures are at the Food and Wine Festival. I did my best to put the picture of the food with the country it is from.
Random Disney fact: Donald Duck has a middle name. Any guesses as to what it is?? To find out the answer, scroll to the bottom of this page (:
